Soldiers of metal unite! The glory shall be reveled in this enhanced CD about chivalry, honor, knights, and fantasy. The sound production is great, and all the instruments (and vocals) sound clear. This album follows their debt, Glory To The Brave, and continues the journey through medieval fantasy. The drumming on this album, as some might think, is similar to the drumming done on Judas Priest’s Painkiller album. “Heeding the Call” starts the album, with one of the best chorus’s heard on the album (and its Matt’s favorite song). The melodic vocals on this song (hell, on this album) are perfect, booming with honor. The drumming on this song is very catchy and will have you playing ‘air drums’ as much as it will have you singing. “Legacy of Kings” (my favorite track), has one of the best intros I’ve ever heard, and fantastic lyrics. The guitar is fast, and the drumming is faster. Like “Heeding the Call”, this song has a great chorus. “Let the Hammer Fall” is an ear-pounding song that feels good every time you hear it. The lyrics are reaching the peaks here, and the echoing vocal ground Joacim Cans breaks is amazing. “Dreamland” is my second favorite song off this album. The guitars here are charming with sound. A song about fantasy beyond the imagination, and it will have you thinking about the Lord of the Rings movies for sure, if not, your imagination must have disappeared. “Remember Yesterday”, the beginning sounds somewhat like “Glory to the Brave” off their first album, but still a great ballad nonetheless. Joacim’s vocals are perfect, and very sweet. No other words can describe such a great ballad, one of the two on the album. “At the End of the Rainbow” has a funky beat beginning, but proves to be a thundering song, about seeking fortunes. The chanting chorus is terrific, sung by metal warriors. It’s kind of slow and haunting, but an all our great song. “Back to Back” is a Pretty Maids cover. A heroic song that you sing with, heroically hopefully. A fast, head-pounding song that will leave your skull rattling with the lyrics and guitar speed. “Stronger Than All” is a hard-hitting song, yet melodic at the same time. Matt and I like to compare this song with ourselves, and when you hear it, you’ll see why. “Warriors of Faith” is a fast, thundering song. Great lyrics and vocals done here, and great guitar melodies. This song, as well as all the others, was played with great heart and spirit of heavy metal. “The Fallen One” is a beautiful ballad, played mostly on a piano. This song will make you cherish life as it is. This is a song for those who have lost a true loved one in the past, no matter how close or far about you may be. If Joacim’s suave vocals don’t make you shed tears for that lost someone, I don’t know what will.
The Swedish Power Metal band, HammerFall, is a great band to listen to (especially if you’re Matt, who likes to practice with his swords to this album), if you’re into medieval-themed lyrics and clashing guitar melodies. Listen to this CD, and I guarantee, Dreamland will reveal! Look, the damn pic came from amazon.com, so if I see so many as 1 of you lawyers, my boomstick's coming out of retirment. |
